@Jacob, no IIS 7 is not necessary to package it, however, MS PI after installed, is part of IIS 7 manager and make it easier to test out the installer. Like I mentioend, there are a few things you will only notice when being tested in UI.

@Zack, no problem, glad it helped.

@BableGator, make sure you selected "Default Web Site" to your left of the console, otherwise, it won't show up.

@Mike, good call, I forgot to mention that in my article.

@Dana, I'll write another blog post about it. Please come back in a few days.

Hello:

Could you quickly show us how you used the UI to test the application?

I just downloaded Jumptree trial, wanting to test it out, but I don't know how.

Could you please show us how you did that?

Good article.

Just want to let others be aware.

If your package will be installed on IIS 7, make sure you include your httpmodules under system.webServer -> modules and have

validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false"

in place (disable runtime rejection of Integrated mode applications that have legacy ASP.NET settings)

I tried using IIS 7 Manger to test it by following the Microsoft guide, but I don't see any "Import Application", could you please tell me how you are able to test it using the UI?
